A review of Four Dwellings School by Anton [Tony] Cook written on Sunday 24th of August 2014
My name is Tony Cook. In 1947 my family moved from Edgebaston to Wedgewood Road Quinton. I was 12 years old at the time and became a student at Four Dwellings Secondary Modern. I remember well my first teacher, Mrs Thompson. After Mrs Thompson I moved into the class of Mr Musgarave and stayed in his classes until I left school, aged 15 in July 1950.
Though I would never class myself as an excellent pupil, I did manage to keep up with my school work.
I wonder if any of my old classmates are still around, or any one else who can remember me. If so I would love to hear from them. My e-mail address is immilord@hotmail.com.
I remember John Smithers, the Packer boys, John Gillete, Brian Gascoyne, Roy Smith and among the girls, Marjorie Kings, Margaret Haycock, Barbara Goodwin [with whom I am in regular contact], Diana Vaux, Doris Wright, Gillian Haddon [A great runner], Deanna Deeley and Rita Peruzza.
After leaving school I entered the factory of Bellis and Morcom but soon found factory life was not for me. I then entered the Legal profession and stayed in that profession until 1968. After a breakdown I did other jobs until I brought my family to Australia in 1973 I am now retired, a widower and I live in the Melbourne, suburb of Cheltenham. Victoria.
If anyone remembers me I would love to hear from them.
